lumaXMB Desktop Engine - Alpha 2026-10-25
INSTALL IN FOUR STEPS (about two minutes)

You need: Windows 10 or 11, and Wallpaper Engine from Steam.
No programs to run. You copy one folder, then pick it in Wallpaper Engine.

STEP 1 - Unzip the download
Right-click the ZIP file and choose "Extract All...", then click "Extract".
Inside you will see this guide and a folder named "lumaXMB Desktop Engine".
  That folder is the wallpaper.

STEP 2 - Open Wallpaper Engine's "myprojects" folder
In Steam: Library > right-click Wallpaper Engine > Manage > Browse local files
In the folder that opens, double-click "projects", then "myprojects".

  On most PCs this is:
  C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\wallpaper_engine\projects\myprojects

No "myprojects" folder? Create one with exactly that name inside "projects".

STEP 3 - Copy the wallpaper folder into "myprojects"
Drag the "lumaXMB Desktop Engine" folder into the "myprojects" window.

  It should look like this:
    myprojects
    +- lumaXMB Desktop Engine
       +- project.json
       +- index.html
+- ... (all the other files)

RIGHT: myprojects > lumaXMB Desktop Engine > project.json
  WRONG: myprojects > lumaXMB-Desktop-Engine-Manual-Install > lumaXMB Desktop Engine > project.json
         (one folder too deep)

STEP 4 - Pick it in Wallpaper Engine
Open Wallpaper Engine (tray icon near the clock).
Go to the "Installed" tab and click "lumaXMB Desktop Engine".
With several displays, choose the display at the top first. Click OK. Done.

Don't see it? Quit Wallpaper Engine completely (right-click tray icon > Quit)
  and open it again.

CHANGE THE LOOK
  - Click the gear in the bottom-right corner of your desktop. Choices are remembered.
  - Or select the wallpaper in Wallpaper Engine and use the settings on the right.
"Open live settings panel" there opens the same menu on your desktop.
  - On the desktop, use the menu's arrows and - / + buttons. Mouse-wheel scrolling
    and dragging inside the menu need the optional helper from the full package;
Wallpaper Engine's own settings panel supports both.

UPDATE: delete the old folder from myprojects, copy the new one in, re-select it.
REMOVE: choose another wallpaper, then delete the folder from myprojects.

TROUBLE?
  - Black screen: copy the whole folder again; every file is needed.
  - Not listed: the folder must sit directly inside myprojects; restart Wallpaper Engine.
  - Slow: gear menu > Performance > Balanced or Eco.
